Wait… if I’m generous, I will have MORE, not less?

The world of the generous gets larger and larger.

Here in Canada, we often see people holding up signs on the side of the road saying things like "broke, hungry - help", or one that I saw recently - "lost job - even a little bit helps". Her sign caught me and I immediately wanted to do SOMETHING to help. I couldn't do much at that moment, because I was late for an appointment, but I had a granola bar in my purse that I quickly gave her. I wish I did more. I wish I stopped and was able to encourage her or give her my phone number. But she gave me a big desperate smile and thanked me a few times for such a simple gift.

Now change the narrative over to a mom and 5 kids in Congo who are refugees, living on no income, and scraping by day to day. Imagine someone rushing up to them, giving them ~$10 and rushing away. That person who was in a rush and dropped off that $10 may not even know what that meant and may never think about it again. That $10 is EVERYTHING to that mom who can now feed her family today. That $10 is literally a LIFELINE.

Our perspective in North America is a bit skewed. Lots of us are skeptical about charities because we've heard of some scam, or heard of CEO's getting tons of money from donations, or whatever else.

We also think that the $10/month that we could give is so little and is not even worth giving at all. But this is not true - especially from the perspective of that mother of 5 living day to day. Our $10 can give people HOPE. Our $10 can be a LIFELINE for someone who may not live another day. If you were the one struggling, holding up the billboard, wouldn't you wish for someone to give just $10 so you could get rid of those hunger pangs??

If everyone gives what we are able to give - whether that is $10/month or more, together we will be able to do SO MUCH more. If we all do what we can, it adds up to SO MUCH. And with that "so much" we can impact LIVES.

If 5 people give $100, its $500

If an entire 100,000 person city decide to all give $10 each, its $1,000,000.

You never know how much impact your $10 will do until you give it away and allow it to bless someone else. It is not only so fulfilling, it will also reap good rewards in your own life. Try it. You'll see!

"The world of the generous gets larger and larger"

"Give freely and become more wealthy"

"One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want."

"You can become rich by being generous"

These proverbs are so backwards! It makes NO SENSE to our logical brain that by GIVING AWAY our money, we will become richer.

"The world of the generous gets larger and larger" - This doesn't say your bank account will get larger and larger. It says your WORLD. Your family, the people and things you love and are connected to - THAT is going to be impacted by your generosity.

I encourage you to give it a try. Test it. And see how these proverbs are exactly true and proven time and time again.

Did you know that only $6 will give a child access to health care for 12 months in Rwanda & Congo? A year of healthcare for $6. $6 will give a child hope that when they get sick, they won't die - they will receive treatment.

$1 will feed a child in our Feeding Program. $10 will feed 10 children.
