Finding Enzo
Would you stop if you found a baby crying in a ditch?
This question became a reality for someone in the Mukuru slum of Nairobi on November 15th. In a community of 700,000 people, a tiny baby was discovered in a ditch by a stone quarry, crying out for help.
The baby, estimated to be only three days old, was wrapped in cold, wet rags and left in the rain. It’s believed that whoever abandoned him hoped the rain would carry him away.
But God had other plans.
Despite the harsh conditions, the baby appeared healthy. He was immediately taken for medical assessment to ensure his well-being. Babies found in such dire situations often don’t have names, but this little one was different. A sponsor, who had been waiting and praying for a baby to name and sponsor had already chosen a name: Enzo Malek Kanai.
(Read below for the note from the sponsor - it is so sweet!)
This story is extra special for us because the day that Enzo was rescued, Pastor Brian was in Kenya! The founder of Home of Hope got to meet this little baby and got to hold him. It was very emotional!
Today, baby Enzo is adjusting well. He’s feeding properly and receiving the care he needs. His rescue is a testament to the compassion and quick action of those who found him.
It breaks my heart the circumstances these little ones are found in.
